Monitoring Progress – Assessment and Reporting

Parents will receive three reports throughout the year, with information about areas of strength and improvement, as well as effort and homework.  These are informed by in-class formative teacher assessment as well as key assessed pieces of work, which take place twice a half-term for core subjects and once a half-term for option subjects.  Summative assessments, including mock exams, take place at various points in the year for pupils in Key Stage 4.  All pupils in Key Stage 3 will sit a summative assessment at the end of each academic year in all subjects that they study.

At Key Stage 3, pupils are assessed against a bespoke assessment criteria for each subject they study.  This enables them to focus on the specific skills and knowledge they need to be successful in the subject.  These can be accessed on subjects’ curriculum pages.

At Key Stage 4 and 5, pupils are assessed against GCSE and A Level targets generated based on their prior attainment at Key Stage 2 and 4.
